Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, NFL and Apple Music say

Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, Apple Music, the NFL and Roc Nation announced Monday night.

The show will take place at SoFi Stadium in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027, according to the joint announcement. It will air on ESPN, ABC and Disney+ and on mobile devices with NFL+, with ESPN's Spanish-language telecast on ESPN Deportes and Disney+ and a separate Spanish-language presentation on Univision.

The announcement was made during the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game on ESPN's "Monday Night Football," NFL.com reported. Apple Music posted "GOAT's out of the bag" on X at 9:50 p.m. ET, and the NFL followed minutes later.

"From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," Jay-Z said in the release. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

Producer and performer

Jay-Z's company Roc Nation has co-produced the halftime show with the NFL since 2019, and Roc Nation will executive produce the Super Bowl LXI telecast, with Hamish Hamilton directing, according to the release.

"When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in the release.

Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of music and international content, said Apple was "so thrilled that he will be taking that stage himself this year."

The selection was first reported by Puck on Oct. 20; the league and Apple had not confirmed it until Monday. Jay-Z follows Bad Bunny, who headlined Super Bowl LX, and Kendrick Lamar, who headlined Super Bowl LIX.

The release describes Jay-Z as a 25-time Grammy winner and the first hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This year marked the 30th anniversary of his debut album "Reasonable Doubt," which he celebrated with concerts including three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, according to the release. NFL.com said he played SoFi Stadium on Oct. 23 and 24 as part of that series.

What is not known

No guest performers have been announced. The NFL and Apple Music did not say how the decision was made for Jay-Z to perform at a show his own company co-produces, beyond Goodell's statement.
