Former President Barack Obama campaigned in Cleveland on Saturday for Ohio Democrats, with an evening rally planned in Detroit for Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, CNN reported.
Obama appeared at a Cleveland event with Democratic Senate nominee Sherrod Brown and gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton on Saturday afternoon, according to CNN. An Obama spokesperson said he was expected to lay out the stakes of the race, CNN reported.
Detroit
The Detroit rally is set for 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with El-Sayed and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, the Democratic nominee for governor, joining Obama on stage, Newsweek reported. The state party is pitching the event as a push to bank early votes, according to Newsweek.
President Donald Trump plans to hold a rally in Georgia on Saturday evening at the same time as Obama's Detroit event, CNN reported. Trump is scheduled to campaign in Michigan on Sunday, according to CNN.
Obama's message
In a Brown endorsement video earlier this month, Obama said, "This race is going to be close. It could determine which party controls the Senate, and whether Ohioans can count on the people in Washington to be fighting for you," according to Newsweek.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
