Sturm, Ruger & Co. says it has paused, not necessarily ended, production of four revolver families. It has also set final 2026 production runs for 15 more product lines. A company spokesperson confirmed the changes to several outlets on Oct. 14 and 15, 2026, after a sales memo reached distributors on Oct. 13.
What is affected
Suspended immediately, with open distributor orders canceled: the LCR, SP101, GP100 and Bearcat.
Final runs through the end of 2026: SR1911, LC Carbine, PC Charger, PC Carbine, LC Charger, Redhawk, Super Redhawk, Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Single-Series revolvers, Vaquero, No. 1, 77-Series, Hawkeye and the Ruger Precision Rifle.
According to the memo as reported by The Outdoor Wire on Oct. 15, the wind-down lines will be allocated to distributors. Orders that are still unfilled when production ends will be canceled.
What Ruger says
Abbey Clary, Ruger's director of media, advertising and public relations, said the changes are part of the company's "Ruger 2030" strategy. "This does not necessarily mean these product families are permanently discontinued," she told American Rifleman.
Speaking to Guns.com, Clary said the decisions reflect "consumer demand, evolving market preferences, manufacturing complexity and the long-term profitability". She said some model names may "return in new forms," but gave no plans or timelines.
How the change has been framed
Ruger's wording is "suspension" or "pause," with no reintroduction timeline. Some outlets, including Guns.com in its headline, have framed the models as discontinued.
North Carolina connection
In a specialized disclosure report (Form SD) filed with the SEC and dated May 28, 2026, Ruger stated that its "principal executive office is located in Mayodan, NC, and its manufacturing facilities are located in Mayodan, NC, Newport, NH, Prescott, AZ and Hebron, KY". Ruger has not said whether the suspensions affect any particular plant or jobs.
Groksinews found no standalone investor-relations release or SEC filing on the changes. Ruger's corporate site shows only its general Ruger 2030 strategy materials.
