Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least 10 civilians and injured 73 over the past day, Ukrainian regional authorities reported Sunday, Oct. 18, according to the Kyiv Independent.

Russia launched one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 180 Shahed-type attack drones, including 26 jet-powered drones, along with other loitering munitions and decoy drones, Ukraine's Air Force said. Ukrainian forces intercepted 152 drones, the Air Force said, while strikes hit 20 locations and falling debris was reported at four more.

The deadliest attacks were in Donetsk Oblast, where seven people were killed and 14 injured, most of them in Sloviansk, Governor Vadym Filashkin said.

Western Ukraine hit

Russian drones also struck three regions in western Ukraine on Sunday morning. In Volyn Oblast, an industrial facility in the town of Manevychi caught fire, with warehouses and production buildings burning, acting Governor Roman Romaniuk said; no casualties were reported. It was the second strike on an industrial site in Manevychi in three days.

In Ternopil Oblast, drones hit an energy facility near Staryi Vyshnivets, leaving some customers without power, Governor Taras Pastukh said. Rivne was also targeted, with fires at impact sites and no casualties reported, Governor Oleksandr Koval said.

GROKsiNEWS.com could not independently verify the casualty figures.

Why it matters

The strikes reached from the front-line east to Ukraine's western regions, including energy infrastructure, as another winter approaches.
