Ukraine says it hit a synthetic-rubber plant in Tolyatti, a missile-parts maker in Oryol and an aircraft at Yeysk

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses downed 1,297 drones, a SCALP cruise missile and four Neptune missiles in 24 hours. Each side's account is credited separately.

As of 3:57 p.m. ET, Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026

Ukraine's armed forces struck the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Tolyatti, the main production building of Proton-Electrotex in Oryol, and an aircraft at the Yeysk airfield in Russia's Krasnodar region on Oct. 23 and overnight into Oct. 24, the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces said, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

The General Staff said an explosion and fire were recorded in the area of the Tolyattikauchuk plant, in the Samara region, the Kyiv Independent reported. It said the plant makes synthetic rubber and other products used in the manufacture of solid rocket propellant.

The General Staff said Proton-Electrotex makes, among other things, components for Kh-101-type S-71 Kovyor cruise missiles and Iskander-M ballistic missiles and is involved in producing Pantsir-S1 air defense systems, Ukrainska Pravda reported. The extent of damage to the aircraft at Yeysk was being assessed, the General Staff said; it did not say what type of aircraft was hit.

"Damage to such objects affects the supply chain of raw materials for the Russian missile program," the General Staff said, according to the Kyiv Independent. The Kyiv Independent said it could not independently verify the claims.

Russia's account

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense systems shot down a French-made SCALP air-launched cruise missile, four Neptune long-range cruise missiles and 1,297 fixed-wing drones over the past 24 hours, the state news agency TASS reported. The ministry's statement, as reported by TASS, did not address the specific sites Ukraine said it hit.
