Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted 10 Houthi ballistic missiles fired toward southern Saudi Arabia

The Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted and destroyed 10 ballistic missiles that it said were launched by the Houthis toward Saudi Arabia's southern region on Sunday.

Coalition spokesman @CJFCSpox posted in Arabic that the alliance intercepted and destroyed 10 ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militia toward the southern region. The Saudi Press Agency carried the same statement on its regional account. Neither post named a city or reported casualties, damage or debris.

Earlier interceptions

The 10-missile statement followed three other coalition interceptions reported by SPA in the preceding hours:

SPA reported the coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Riyadh Region. That post did not say who launched the drone.

SPA reported the coalition said air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Riyadh.

SPA reported the coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Khamis Mushait.

None of the SPA posts reported casualties or damage.

What is not known

The Houthis had not claimed the launches as of this writing, and no Reuters, AP or AFP confirmation had been published. The coalition did not say where in the southern region the 10 missiles were headed, where they were intercepted or whether any debris fell. The counts and the attribution to the Houthis are the coalition's own and have not been independently verified.
